Project Deep Dives

Real builds, real challenges, real results. Here's what we've been up to lately - the full story behind each design, from concept sketches to final walkthroughs.

We're pretty picky about what we feature here. These aren't just pretty pictures - they're the projects that pushed us, taught us something new, or just turned out ridiculously cool. Each one's got its own story, technical hurdles we had to clear, and what our clients actually thought when it was done.

Raven's Edge Residence
Completed 2024

Raven's Edge Residence

West Vancouver, BC

This one was a beast. Client came to us wanting something that didn't look like every other waterfront house on the block. We went full contemporary gothic - sharp angles, dark materials, but kept it warm enough to actually live in. The cantilever over the cliff edge? Yeah, that took some serious engineering gymnastics.

Floor Area 6,800 sq ft
Timeline 18 months
Materials Steel, Basalt, Glass
Style Contemporary Gothic

"Honestly didn't think they could pull it off. The design looked insane on paper, but walking through the finished house... it's like living in a work of art that actually functions. Plus, our dinner guests can't stop talking about it."

— Michael & Sarah Chen, Homeowners

Granville Heritage Building
Completed 2023

Granville Heritage Lofts

Downtown Vancouver, BC

You know that old warehouse on Granville that everyone thought was gonna get demolished? We saved it. Stripped everything down to the bones - original brick, exposed timber beams from 1912 - then injected some serious modern attitude. The city's heritage committee wasn't sure about our dark steel additions at first, but they came around once they saw how it all played together.

Total Units 24 Lofts
Timeline 22 months
Built Original 1912
Category Heritage Restoration

"This project could've gone so wrong. Instead, they managed to respect what was already there while making it feel completely fresh. The contrast between old brick and new steel is just chef's kiss."

— David Martinez, Developer

Obsidian Tower
In Progress - 2025

Obsidian Tech Campus

Surrey, BC

Still wrapping this one up, but it's already turning heads. Tech company wanted a headquarters that didn't scream "silicon valley wannabe" - they wanted dark, dramatic, and functional as hell. We're talking black glass curtain walls, angular geometry that messes with your perspective, and enough natural light inside to keep everyone from going insane. Construction's been a puzzle, but that's half the fun.

Floor Area 85,000 sq ft
Expected Spring 2026
Floors 8 Stories
Type Commercial Campus

"We interviewed seven firms before Nyx. Everyone else showed us glass boxes with plants. These guys actually listened when we said we wanted something with personality. Can't wait to move in."

St. Moritz Chapel
Completed 2024

St. Moritz Memorial Chapel

Whistler, BC

Sometimes you get a project that just hits different. Small mountain chapel for a private estate, but the family wanted something that felt both ancient and timeless. We borrowed from traditional gothic architecture - the verticality, the way light filters through - but stripped away all the ornamental stuff. What's left is pure form and shadow. It's quiet in there, in a good way.

Floor Area 1,200 sq ft
Timeline 14 months
Materials Stone, Cedar, Bronze
Type Spiritual Space

"They understood what we were trying to create - not a church exactly, but a place for reflection that felt connected to something bigger. The way the light moves through the space throughout the day... it's meditation in architectural form."

— Robert Thornton, Client

Eclipse Townhomes
Completed 2023

Eclipse Lane Townhomes

North Vancouver, BC

Multi-unit residential that doesn't look like every other townhouse development? Challenge accepted. Developer wanted max density but wasn't interested in the usual cookie-cutter approach. We staggered the facades, played with different heights, used charcoal fiber cement and black metal panels. Each unit feels individual even though they're sharing walls. Sold out before construction finished, which was cool.

Total Units 12 Homes
Timeline 16 months
Unit Size 1,800-2,400 sq ft
Type Multi-Family

"We've built dozens of townhouse projects, and honestly, most architects just phone it in. Not these folks. They actually made something people wanted to buy because it looked different and interesting. That's good business."

— Jennifer Wu, Northcrest Developments
